A Functional Landscape, Framed

The project began with a critical need for stormwater management in the side yard. A newly installed deck had intensified runoff, leaving lower areas persistently muddy and prone to erosion.

The response was both practical and human: redirecting water away from the home while introducing a walkable woodland path—one that stabilized the slope and invited movement through the landscape.

Seen from the deck and outdoor kitchen, the path became more than infrastructure. It framed the land, slowed water, and transformed a previously muddy, overlooked space into a quiet invitation to walk and a more contemplative daily view.
